New Delhi: The Medical Technology Association of India (MTaI) has announced that it will hold its maiden event – “MTaI MedTech Summit 2017: Transforming Patients’ Lives in India” on 15th September 2017 at New Delhi.

As per the press release issued by MTaI, the healthcare sector drives on four major wheels – the provider (hospitals), the pharmaceutical industry, the medical technology (MedTech) industry and the Health Insurance industry. Among these, the MedTech industry is the smallest of the wheels but it is vital. Medical technology has undoubtedly had an incredible impact on patients’ lives, but is often neglected and misunderstood.

There is very little understanding about the MedTech sector in India due to which it neither gets the impetus that is required for its growth, nor the recognition that it rightfully deserves. MTaI is, therefore, organising the first-of-its-kind summit that will provide patients, industry and doctors with a platform to interact with policy makers, which will highlight the uniqueness, nuances and significance of medical technology.

Mr Pavan Choudary, Director General, MTaI, says, “It is time to de-mystify the MedTech sector and MTaI has taken the initiative to engage various stakeholders to make them understand how medical technology transforms the quality of patients’ lives. This patient-industry-doctor-government interface will be an educative, illuminating and a first for India. Medical technology is miracle technology, and MTaI invites you to this MedTech Summit 2017 to witness this miracle.”

The summit will include sessions on cardiovascular, ophthalmology, orthopaedic implants, oncology, endoscopic surgery and bariatric surgery as focus themes to present a case-in-point for each, and to reinstate how quality is critical for better outcomes in these situations.

The power pack sessions will be delivered and moderated by key presenters which will include government officials from key ministries, leaders from the MedTech industry, doctors and patients.

According to Mr Diwaker Rana, Chairman, MTaI MedTech Summit 2017 and Director, MTaI Board, “This event will showcase the continuum of the contribution of MedTech companies in making a difference in the healthcare delivery systems and in improving patient lives.”

To sum up, the summit is expected to deliver on 3 fronts, i.e. to provide for the first time, the unique interface of policy makers, Industry, doctors & patients, offer a learning opportunity to whosoever wishes to get a clear insight into this sector and provide networking opportunities with the who’s who of this sector.
