Prof Sudhanshu Vrati takes charge as Executive Director at RCB, Faridabad

Having served earlier as Dean of Translational Health Science and Technology Institute for close to six years, Dr Sudhanshu Vrati has taken now charge as Executive Director of Regional Centre of Biotechnology which is a part of Faridabad-based biocluster of the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India

New Delhi: Dr Sudhanshu Vrati has been appointed as the Executive Director of Regional Centre for Biotechnology, a part of the Faridabad Biocluster of the Department of Biotechnology (DBT). Dr Vrati was earlier serving as the Dean of the Translational Health Research and Technology institute (THSTI). He has been a senior scientist at National Institute of Immunology (NII), New Delhi, and also actively involved with THSTI since 2005.

 

thstiWith rich background and deep biotechnological research experience, his present research interest lies in the area of RNA virus replication and vaccine development. His group at the Vaccine and Infectious Disease Research Centre (VIDRC) within THSTI focuses on key aspects of the JEV life-cycle like receptor binding and entry mechanisms, molecular mechanisms of virus replication, assembly and egress. Besides, he has been also involved in the clinical development of an oral rotavirus vaccine.

Dr. Vrati did his M.Sc in Microbiology from G. B. Pant University of Agriculture and Technology in Pantnagar, DIIT in Biochemical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology Delhi and PhD in Biochemistry from the Australian National University in Canberra. He did his postdoctoral research at CSIRO Molecular Sciences in Sydney.
