ABLE seeks comments on national biotech development strategy draft

This is to enable the Association of Biotechnology Led Enterprises to consolidate all inputs and present them to the government

New Delhi:  Association of Biotechnology Led Enterprises has invited comments and feedback from the biotechnology industry stakeholders on ‘Draft National Biotechnology Development Strategy 2020-25′ released for public consultation by the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Ministry of Science and Technology.
The concerned individuals and organizations can submit their thoughts on the proposed NBDS 2020-25 and send it to ABLE at [email protected] before Saturday, 13th February 2021. As per ABLE, the exercise is to consolidate all inputs and present them to the government.

The DBT has taken up the task of preparing a new National Biotechnology Development Strategy that will guide the development of the sector till 2025. Department has sought inputs from the industry on its proposed new policy measures.
The strategy is aimed at harnessing the potential of biotechnology as a premier precision tool for the national development and well-being of society. Under the mission, it aims to make India globally competitive in biotechnology research, innovation, translation, entrepreneurship, and industrial growth and be a USD 150 billion Bioeconomy by 2025.
Among the top goals and objectives of the strategy include building and strengthening a strong education, research, and translation ecosystem across the country. It also aims to make India a global player for the development and deployment of new and emerging technologies. Building and nurture a vibrant start-up, entrepreneurial and industrial base in the country, connecting the academia and industry remain the core of the strategy that also aims to position India as a strong bio-manufacturing hub.
