Biotech overseas associateship for North East scientists

Under its policy to promote the biotech in the North-Eastern India, the Department of Biotechnology will be sending the researchers from various states of region for overseas training

New Delhi: The Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology has invited applications from scientists working in any of the states of North Eastern region including Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Tripura and Sikkim for the award of Biotechnology Overseas Associateship (2017-18) under the special programme for the North East states. Under the same, the scientists will conduct research or training in the overseas laboratories in various areas of biotechnology.
Applicants should hold a PhD degree in the various life sciences including biotechnology or MD in medicine/ M.Pharm/MvSc/MTech with three years of experience. They should hold regular or permanent positions in their institutes, working continuously for last two years.
There are two categories of Associateships, namely Long-term and Short-term. The long term one is of one year tenure (not extendable) with the monthly Associateship amount @ USD 3000 or its equivalent in the country of study per month. Preparatory allowance of Rs 1,00,000/- (one time grant) will also be paid besides the cost of air passage in economy class for joining the overseas laboratory and back. Age limit: not exceeding 45 years as on March 31, 2017.
For the Short-term associateship, the duration is three months or six months (not extendable). Monthly Associateship amount @ USD 3000 or its equivalent in the country of study will be paid besides the preparatory allowance of Rs 50,000/-(one time grant) and the cost of air passage in economy class by Air India for joining the overseas laboratory and back. Age limit should not exceed 55 years as on March 31, 2017.
The selected candidates may receive the payment of salary and continuance of other service benefits by the institutions to which they belong. However, no liability on any of this account will be borne by DBT. The details about terms and conditions are given here.
