New Delhi: The Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) is showcasing the technologies innovated by its various institues during the ‘Platinum Jubilee Techno Fest’ at the India International Trade Fare (IITF) in New Delhi. The Union Minister for Science, Technology, Dr Harsh Vardhan inaugurated the event at the Trade Fair that began on November 14th. Dr Vardhan visited all stalls in the CSIR hall discussing developments made and the future course for action with the directors and other scientists of various CSIR labs. He also inaugurated the micro site of CSIR Platinum Jubilee Techno Fest.
The Minister also unveiled brochures on each of such thematic areas at the exhibition. Dr Harsh Vardhan in his brief talk mentioned, “This Techno Fest is an opportunity for the young students, scientists and the common people to come under one roof and witness the knowledge base of achievements and researches by CSIR.”
Dr Girish Sahni, Director General CSIR in an interaction with the media said, “This (Techno Fest) is a matter of pride and satisfaction. It is an honest attempt to make people aware about the contribution of CSIR scientists, that is, what they have offered for the life of the masses. All 38 labs of CSIR contributed to the Techno Fest, presenting CSIR efforts to solve various issues of the common Indian. We are looking forward to contribute more with every passing year.”
There are 14 theme pavilions that deal with CSIR work in various areas including water, aerospace and strategic sector, energy, leather, healthcare and generics among many others.
Among the bioscience related themes, the showcasing of ‘Energy’ related technologies will be done on November 19th by the CSIR-CECRI followed by the Ecology & Environment by the CSIR-NEERI on November 20th. The ‘Water’ will be the theme on November 22nd and the technologies will be showcased by the CSIR-CSMCRI. On 23rd November, the theme, Agriculture & Floriculture will be showcased by the CSIR-CIMAP/CSIR-NBRI. The technologies related to ‘Food & Nutrition’ will be displayed on 24th November by the CSIR-CFTRI. Again on 25th November, the ‘Healthcare & Generics’ will be showcased by the CSIR-CDRI & CSIR-IICT.
The CSIR will also showcase its technologies for societal interventions on November 26th. This Techno Fest will run till 27th November. Each day has different themes-based activities.
