New Delhi: The National Entrepreneurship Awards have been instituted by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MoSDE) to encourage a culture of entrepreneurship across the country. The Awards seek to recognize the efforts and achievements of exceptional entrepreneurs and those individuals and organizations who are working in the field of entrepreneurship development. The Awards that also seek to highlight models of excellence for others to emulate and improve upon, will be presented annually in a public function.
Individuals or institutions providing incubation, mentorship and handholding support can apply in maximum of two categories though the award will only be presented in one category. The eligible young entrepreneurs, who are below 30 years of age with enterprises that are less than 5 years old can apply for these prestigious awards (16 award categories and 3 awards in recognition track – 19 in all) which have been instituted from this year. The closing date to apply is today on 28th December.
The scheme implementation will be overseen by a Core Committee of Implementing Partners which comprise of following premier institutes: IIT Delhi, IIT Bombay, IIT Madras, XLRI Jamshedpur, IIT Kanpur, IIM Ahmedabad, and Tata Institute of Social Sciences. Each year one of these institutes will be nominated as the Lead Institute for implementing the awards while others will support the program as implementing partners. For the National Entrepreneurship Awards 2016-17, IIT-Delhi has been nominated as the lead institute and which shall execute the program through FITT – the industry interface organization that enables innovations, technology commercialization and start-ups at or from IIT Delhi.
