New Delhi: While condemning the brutal act of violence against the resident doctors of NRS Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata, the apex healthcare industry body, NATHEALTH has pointed out that doctors and healthcare providers comprise the backbone of modern healthcare delivery and require a safe environment to deliver care and save lives.

It is important to note that a mob of 200 people had attacked the two resident doctors and seriously injured them. The impact of the attack was such that one of the doctors is undergoing treatment due to grievous injuries to the skull. The doctors across the country are protesting this and other such incidents where they become the easy targets of vicious attacks.

“We need to understand that medical professionals and establishments are doing their job and trying to save lives. The government must ensure the safety and security of doctors and paramedic workers at all times. NATHEALTH will be willing to work with Government and all stakeholders to create a safe health care environment where the sanctity of patient-doctor relationship prospers,” said Dr  Sudarshan Ballal, President, NATHEALTH.

“NATHEALTH is deeply concerned by the violence against medical community and request Government and Law enforcement agencies to assure a safe work environment to all who fight to save lives,” mentioned Siddhartha Bhattacharya, Secretary General NATHEALTH.
