Gurgaon: mom’s belief, a unit of Crafting Futures Pvt Ltd, recently announced the launch of its Neurodevelopmental Guided Therapy – Home Program. The program offers training / mentoring and effective teaching tools for parents of special needs children. The mom’s belief home-based program – the first of its kind – assists parents of children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder / social communication disorder, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), Down syndrome, intellectual disability, learning disability, and global developmental delay. mom’s belief is based in Gurgaon.
The mom’s belief home-based program was conceived by Crafting Futures CEO, Nitin Bindlish and Chief Child Psychologist, Dr Mukta Vasal, PhD, to help families who experience the day-to-day challenges inherent in supporting a special needs child. Mr. Bindlish brings 15 years of business experience with Indian health care start-ups and top-tier multinationals such as KPMG, Aon Hewitt and American Express. Dr. Vasal has 20 years of experience with special needs children and relevant certifications from the University of North Carolina, Purdue University and University of Southern California in the U.S.
“We are driven by our goal to touch a million lives over the next six to seven years – that is at the forefront of everything we do,” said CEO Nitin Bindlish. “We appreciate the usefulness of hard numbers to determine a company’s value, but what matters most to us is the impact we’re having on special needs children and their families. You can’t assign a monetary value to the joy that parents experience when they see improvement, such as when their non-verbal child finally starts to express himself or herself. It’s accomplishments like these that keep us inspired, not dollar signs.”
The mom’s belief Neurodevelopmental Guided Therapy – Home Program connects parents with a child psychologist who prepares a neurodevelopmental profile of their child (either in person or over the phone). The profile helps the parents and psychologist create a specific learning plan for the child. The plan is supported with resources from the mom’s belief resource library, which is stocked with over 500 unique teaching tools. The tools are designed to accommodate the learning styles typically associated with the developmental disorders the program addresses. The resources are delivered to the home and collected after one month, when another set of resources is delivered.
Parents receive training on the program’s tools and techniques in one-hour sessions held each week in person or via Skype. Training sessions are conducted by child development experts, who also monitor the progress of each child to maximize the impact of the learning plan and resources. Regular monitoring also allows them to keep the program precisely tailored to the needs of the child.
“We are giving parents knowledge and the means to apply that knowledge. We are giving them skills so they can play a proactive, rather than a passive role in their child’s skill development. We are giving them professional support to eliminate their doubts and bolster their self-confidence. This puts them in the driver’s seat, and studies show that when parents are actively involved in their child’s therapy, the rewards are measureable and long-lasting,” said Dr. Vasal.
The company has attracted prominent individuals to its advisory board, including Mr. Rajan Anandan, managing director of Google Southeast Asia and India; Ms. Radhika Chopra, entrepreneur, art philanthropist and former economist with the US Federal Reserve; Dr. Prerana Mohite, PhD, Professor Emeritus, Department of Human Development and Family Studies, MS University of Baroda; Justice (Ret’d) AP Shah, former Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court; and Tamana Special, led by Founder and President Dr. Shayama Chona, PhD, Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan awardee and Director Dr. Ritu Juneja, PhD.
