Bengaluru: Trivitron Healthcare, a leading medical device company, has entered into a strategic partnership by signing a Memorandum of Association with the Centre for Cellular And Molecular Platforms (C-CAMP), an initiative of the Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology.

This partnership is a strategic step for both Trivitron and C-CAMP towards co-development of world-class healthcare technologies completely indigenously under “Joint Intellectual Properties” (i.e. product and process patents and know-how) aegis.

The MoU was signed in the presence of Dr Renu Swarup, Secretary, Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India and Chairperson, Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC); Dr Taslimarif Saiyed, CEO & Director, C-CAMP; and Dr G.S.K. Velu, Chairman & Managing Director, Trivitron Healthcare.

C-CAMP has developed and tested an indigenous multiplex fluorescent microfluidic-analyzer, covered under two patents; a base-patent for microfluidic flow analyzer, which is filed and granted in several geographies, and a follow-on patent covering multiplex functionality. C-CAMP will demonstrate proof of concept and will participate in the co-development of a biological fluid analyzer for clinical diagnostics. By the MoU, Trivitron which has a history of developing and installing diagnostic devices, including imaging devices globally is expected to facilitate these C-CAMP developed technologies in reaching a wider market segment commercially.

Confirming the development, Dr Taslimarif Saiyed, CEO & Director, C-CAMP said, “The MoU between C-CAMP and Trivitron would mark a new beginning in the healthcare space with emergence of groundbreaking technologies from India developed completely indigenously. This effort would be the first step from India in this direction. Our technology will be in line with international healthcare technological trends and there will be joint work on arriving at product specifications and requirements for commercially and clinically viable devices. The tie up will not only facilitate the technology but also manufacturing of associated devices taking into consideration the desired cost-effectiveness and requirements for commercial viability.”

Speaking on the occasion, Dr G S K Velu said, “We are delighted to be partnering with C-CAMP. They are today among India’s most exciting and unique life sciences innovation hubs that brings together academia, industry and the startup ecosystem on one platform. India is today witnessing massive development in the healthcare space, opening avenues for new advancements and innovations. As a medical technology company providing affordable healthcare solutions, Trivitron constantly pursues technological innovations to offer superior, and yet cost-effective clinical benefits. The alliance with C-CAMP is in line with this endeavour and we are confident that C-CAMP’s culture of innovation and excellence will enable us to provide technologically more advanced devices for enhanced diagnosis and treatments.”

Neuberg joins hands with C-CAMP

At the same event, Neuberg Diagnostics, the fastest growing healthcare start-up in India, also entered into a strategic alliance with the C-CAMP.

As part of the arrangement, Neuberg Anand Academy for Laboratory Medicine (NAALM) will partner with C-CAMP for technical training courses covering Flow Cytometry, Genomics, Mass Spectrometry and other advanced technology platforms. Also, Neuberg Anand Reference Laboratory and Anand Diagnostic Laboratory – A Neuberg Associate will have access to high-end technology like electron microscopy at C-CAMP for analytical testing and for research into method development.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Sujay Ramaprasad said, “Neuberg is happy to be entering into an alliance with C-CAMP. Their endeavour in supporting deep-science innovations and entrepreneurship by nurturing an entrepreneur-friendly culture is laudable. As a Diagnostics Alliance that’s committed to make the latest advances in diagnostics accessible to the general public, Neuberg is keen to partner with C-CAMP. This partnership would aid in providing technical training courses in high end diagnostics platforms like Flow Cytometry, Genomics and Mass Spectrometry through Neuberg Anand Academy for Laboratory Medicine and method development for cutting edge diagnostics through Neuberg Anand Reference Laboratory. We are confident that C-CAMP’s existing comprehensive, all-round support system to bio entrepreneurs, along with NAALM’s drive to chart new frontiers in diagnostic medicine will result in fruitful developments. Furthermore, this association will also provide us with access to high end technology like electron microscopy at C-CAMP which will enable us to provide more in-depth diagnostic insights where applicable.”

The electron microscopy imaging facility at C-CAMP provides researchers all over India with access to one of the most high-end Platform Technologies currently existing in the Imaging space. Through C-CAMP, these technologies are also being made available to industry and commercial entities. The facility houses state-of-the-art imaging equipment to allow researchers to observe nano-scale architecture and phenomena in living systems.
