Curtain Raiser: IIM Bangalore director to talk on building tech capabilities at TechEx’s virtual event

New Delhi: Prof. Rishikesha T. Krishnan, Director of IIM Bangalore and Professor in the area of Strategy and Innovation, will be talking on how innovation is critical to driving India’s growth under the Atmanirbhar Bharat program at an online event on 08 January organized by the technology transfer hub TechEx and co-organized by the Pune Knowledge Cluster. Covid-19, geopolitical tensions and the quest for an Atmanirbhar Bharat have renewed focus on India’s ability to develop and commercialize the technology. His talk will cover why India needs to focus on building and commercializing new technology, and the role of different players including technology transfer offices to address potential challenges. The talk will be followed by a panel discussion that shall feature select young leaders from the industry, entrepreneurship and incubation worlds exploring how we can make the most of the opportunity presented by the current times.
Prof. Krishnan held the Jamuna Raghavan Chair in Entrepreneurship at IIMB from 2007 to 2010. His main areas of interest are strategy and innovation. He has been listed in the Thinkers50 India list of most influential management thinkers from India. Professor Krishnan writes extensively, and has more than 140 publications academic journals, popular press, case studies and books. Prof. Krishnan has written two books: From Jugaad to Systematic Innovation: The Challenge for India and 8 Steps to Innovation: Going from Jugaad to Excellence (co-authored with Vinay Dabholkar), which won the Best Book Award for 2013-14 from the Indian Society for Training & Development. He is also a member of various prestigious boards and panels, and is also on the jury of the Economic Times start-up awards.
