Mumbai: Teplu, a leading start-up in the animal husbandry space has launched an innovative practical workshop on dairy product manufacturing. These courses are intended to benefit housewives, food enthusiasts and existing dairy entrepreneurs.
The workshop in this regard is being held on 12th February and 13th February, at Navi Mumbai.
During the two day workshop a step by step process to set up a profitable enterprise in dairy products is taught to the participants. The latest technology in small scale manufacturing which can be carried out at affordable costs is introduced during this workshop. Over 12 dairy products such as paneer, curd, whey, khowa, rabri, basundi, yoghurt, ice-cream, kulfi etc have been included in the course.
On this occasion Mr. Sanjay Bhattacharji, Founder and Director, Teplu said, “We have created these courses on dairy products for fostering entrepreneurship amongst the youth and homemakers. We want to provide them with the best technical guidance to manufacture dairy products and market them locally. As a dairy entrepreneur in the past, I was able to get a better price for my farm milk when I started producing a variety of dairy products. As per investindia.gov.in, commodity segments (Milk and SMP) offer EBIT margins of ~3 per cent in while value added segments such as ice cream, yogurt, cheese and whey show EBIT margins of ~20 per cent. Considering that by 2025, Indian milk production will grow to 270 MMT, this creates huge investment opportunities in the sector to the tune of $ 10 Billion. We are therefore encouraging housewives and youth to start their own small scale dairy units and take part in this growth story”
Teplu launched its multilingual online courses on scientific dairy farming early in 2021 and has so far registered over 10000 users on its platform. Many new farms have been started under the guidance of experts and farmers have reaped the benefits of implementing scientific management practices in their dairy farms.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Rajendra Kokane, Phd, dairy technology and industry expert said “We have created a course specifically focusing on the problem areas in dairy product manufacturing. Many entrepreneurs start this business and later on face problems in quality and end up in losses. We have provided solutions in our course which are not available in other digital media. This course will be useful to all the existing dairy professionals in India. During our classroom sessions in Mumbai, live demonstrations are held where information about ingredients and equipments are also provided. Housewives & youth will be able to start their own small enterprises and hugely benefit from these sessions.”
